# ID MANDAT

> ID MANDAT is an open registry for AI agents. It lets a company declare, on its own domain, which AI agents act on its behalf (ID) and what each agent is allowed to do (MANDATE). Any agent can verify these claims automatically.

Status: registry in development. Standard v0.1 (draft), 2026-09-30. Operated from Osnabrück, Germany.

## How verification works

1. A company publishes a file at `https://<domain>/.well-known/idmandat.json` listing its legal identity and its agents with their mandates (`may`, `mayNot`, `bindingOnlyAfter`).
2. The company proves domain control with a DNS TXT record: `_idmandat.<domain>` = `v=idmandat1; file=/.well-known/idmandat.json`.
3. ID MANDAT additionally checks the data against the company's imprint (Impressum) and the German commercial register (Handelsregister).

ID MANDAT confirms identity and authority. It does not confirm trustworthiness, quality or creditworthiness.

## Principles

- The credential lives on the company's domain, not with the registry.
- An agent never presents itself as a human (`isHuman: false`).
- A mandate also states what the agent is not allowed to do.
- Compatible with A2A, MCP and Schema.org.
